We are going backstage a bit today. As a cookie decorator
enthusiast I cannot tell you how many times I have made mistakes when I am
decorating cookies. Maybe it´s because I
ended up not liking the final design, maybe I was too shaky and that ruined the
whole thing (you kind of need a somewhat steady hand for details) and some
other times I just want to try a totally different design as I go.
The thing is, it´s OK to make mistakes. Maybe it´s better is
a way, because that´s how you learn. Life would be pretty boring if we were all
perfect and didn´t make a single mistake, don´t you think? I definitely learned
that kind of the hard way. Sometimes I would add a second design on tops of the
“ugly” first one (yeah, two layers of royal icing, talk about sugar!) or I just
threw the whole cookie to the garbage (talk about wasting a delicious cookie +
ingredients).
However, ever since I made this little guy my decorating
cookies life changed for good. I use it every time I use royal icing; they go
together to me. As you go, you will find out all its neat uses. Not only does
it work to help you smooth your royal icing/ get rid of air bubbles, it also
doubles as a cleaning assistant. The more you use it and get familiar with it
you will end up using it for everything. And I mean everything, sometimes to
paint quick dots on your dry royal icing even.
Whomever came up with the idea of using a scribe tool for decorating
cookies with royal icing is a genius to me!
But now, you have your messed up decorated cookie and your
scribe tool…what´s next? Find out here:
